Puzzle #232 solution:
Valer Eugen Demian, 2013. I was very happy to see so many responses; keep it up! You will get better at chess faster by solving these puzzles. Do not forget to answer correctly to all questions! Missing or wrong answers will see you lose points. Since 9 of you have got the most points, I chose a random answer for publishing here; it is Callum's answer:
a) Yes the position is possible to reach while playing if white is up a bishop and a knight and trades off everything in the position.
b1) Bd6+ was the last move played by white in this position, black has 2 choices, c8 or a8 with c8 being the better square because he dosen't hang mate in one. The a8-square however, was where the king went and is the worst move because he hangs mate in one move.
b2) See below solution

Brian was the only one to figure out in class why I asked if the position was possible or not: it was because normally a Knight plus Bishop must mate the lone King in a corner of the same colour as the Bishop.
